Technology at Eriksdale School

All of our students in grade 3 and up are provided with their own school laptop which allows them to start learning many programs early on in their education that they will use throughout school and their lives.

Our younger students have also enjoyed taking part in authors and illustrators reading their books live to many classrooms using Scholastic Story Voice. One of our favourite illustrators, Pete Oswald taught students how to draw his newest characters “The Grape and Lenny the Lemon” and even replied to their email asking him some more specific questions.

Some other ways that technology is used to enhance and support learning include:

  • Research skill building
  • Publishing writing
  • Different ways to show what you know
  • Reading programs such as Epic
  • Math program such as Prodigy
  • WebQuests
  • Virtual Labs
  • Text-to-Speech and Speech-to-Text functions that assist students who have reading or writing difficulties or disabilities
