Indigenous Ways of Knowing at Alf Cuthbert School

Alf Cuthbert School has begun classes for K-8 in Anishinaabe.  Sienna Gould works with Grade 5-8 on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons.  She works with K-4 on Thursday afternoons.  Students are learning the sounds of the Anishinaabe language, greetings, short conversation words, naming of plants, animals, environment etc.  They will be doing lessons outside to enjoy the nature around us as well as the beautiful weather.

Jan 18, 19 and 20, the students are working with the Native Theater for Young People and the MB Theater for Young People to learn skills of movement and voice projection as well as present their interpretation of three legends: The Creation Story of Sky Woman, Legend of Summer and the 7 Sacred Teachings.
