It is important to establish relationships with parents of the children and youth in our schools. Parents in our communities are invited to establish parent and school/community partnerships to support schools in the shared responsibility of the education of our youth.
We hope that by being involved with the schools, and providing a voice, that parents will feel more informed and better able to support decisions made.
WHY ARE PARENT ADVISORY COUNCILS IMPORTANT?
According to Manitoba Education, when parents, families, and the community are involved in the education of children and youth:
- student achievement tends to increase
- students feel more supported
- students' attitudes change in a positive way
Lakeshore School Division holds two divisional Parent Advisory Council Meetings annually - November and May - to network between communities, share information, and provide ideas to the Lakeshore School Division Board of Trustees.
