1. School Division Profile
a. Lakeshore School Division spans 7000 km2 between Lake Winnipeg and Lake Manitoba approximately 120 kms north of Winnipeg. Lakeshore is comprised of ten schools and one adult learning centre. Schools are located in the following communities: Lundar, Eriksdale, Ashern, Moosehorn, Fisher Branch, Inwood and two Hutterite Colonies. The School Division provides quality education to 1151 students from Kindergarten to grade 12. The strength of the school division and the challenge are two sides of the same issue. The relatively small number of students means that relationships between staff and students are strong; on the other hand, in some of the communities, it is becoming increasingly challenging to provide high quality programs and options to high school students.
b. Senior Administrative Team
The Senior Administrative team is made up of the following people:
Janet Martell – Superintendent/CEO
Leanne Peters – Assistant Superintendent
Marlene Michno – Secretary-Treasurer
Mark Parkes – Director of Operations and Infrastructure
Terri Otto – Student Services Administrator
This group ensures that learning and teaching are a priority in Lakeshore School Division. This is accomplished through human resources (hiring quality personnel), focusing on professional development for all employee groups, ensuring that there are fiscal resources to do the work, maintaining facilities and operating buses to get the children to and from school and ensuring that special needs students have appropriate programming in place to be successful.
